About

The David Morgan Music Trust is a fund created by the late David Morgan through his love of music and his home town of Bromsgrove. 

David was born in 1922 in Barry, South Wales, his father  was a clerk in the coal industry and his mother studied at the Royal  College of Music becoming an accomplished pianist and tutor. David was educated initially in Barry and later at College in  Birmingham.  He taught English, History and Music with a great involvement  in training school choirs and in his spare time played the piano. After retiring from teaching in 1978 he was a Bromsgrove District Councillor  for approximately 16 years.

He was a supporter of Bromsgrove and Barnt Green choral societies  and was an enthusiastic participant in the Bromsgrove Festival for many  years. His favourite composers were Bach,  Mendelssohn and Schubert.

In addition to his music interests, David was a keen supporter of Bromsgrove Rovers Football club. David died in December 2001.


The objectives of the David Morgan Music Trust are :-

To advance the education of children and young persons by the provision of bursarships or scholarship or workshops to enable those in full-time education to study music, in particular but not exclusively, within the district of Bromsgrove in the County of Worcester.

To foster and promote for the benefit of children and young persons in the district of Bromsgrove the advancement and improvement of general education, understanding and appreciation of the art of music.
